St. Louis in a tough spot, new facilities popping up…

Student Sections

I’m a huge fan of student sections. Whether it be high school or college, students have the unique position of being peers with those on the court. And in many instances, students actually can have an affect on the game. West Virginia head men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins pushed to change the student seating around in order to shove as many students into the lower section of the court as possible. At the Petersen Events Center (University of Pittsburgh), the Oakland Zoo stretches on three sides and is the closest seats the the court.

But, regardless of the proximity to the court, the students have to be creative. And that is something that is hard to find. Well, I found maybe my favorite so far – Central Catholic High School in Massachusetts. Yes, a high school, and yes, a small catholic one.

The Warm-up

I’ve never seen anything like this before. First, the sheer numbers of the student section is unbelievable. The stretching, in unison, is even better. Enjoy.

Parting the Red Sea & the Roller Coaster

This one actually got some media attention on Yahoo. Really funny, and really original.

Team Introduction

This might be my favorite. The unison by the entire student section to go along with the Euro music is just perfect. I’ve watched this a hundred times and wish my high school was this awesome. Heck, I’d even take to see the WVU student section do it from press row.

And once the game is over…..

This video is right after Central Catholic beat Andover, it’s rival. So when the buzzer goes off, you would expect the students to storm the court in mob fashion, but they don’t. Instead, they do this:

It’s taken my a while, but I’ve finally gotten around to updating my website. I’m hoping to keep this thing updated a lot more in the future.

I’m going to be adding a fun map to the baseball stadium section at some point. I’d love to figure out a way to map out all of the various “baseball trips” I’ve been on. Not sure what the best way to do that is, though.
